Fridhems Cykel started in 1977 in Malmö when motorcycle mechanics Jens Arben and Thomas Arenklo discovered an unexpected interest in bicycle repairs. The business grew rapidly: first at Tessins väg 14, later in larger premises at Tessins väg 13 where the range was expanded to include Crescent, Monark and popular racing bikes. Over the years, the shop followed cycling trends – from the racing boom in the 80s to the mountain bike explosion in 1988 and later a growing interest in standard bikes. The expansion continued with a second shop in 1998 on Östra Rönneholmsvägen for sports-oriented models.
On May 31, 2009, Fridhems Cykel opened its store in Lund at Bredgatan 32, near All Saints' Church.
The Lunda store is divided into two parts: a standard range and a sports section, with an extra focus on high-quality and careful service. Since its opening, it has become an important part of the chain's focus on both everyday cyclists and sports cyclists in Lund.
