The people of Lund have chosen their winner, furniture no. 4 – Between errands!

Nils Dremo and Axel Leksell, who study architecture at LTH, became the favorite of the Lund residents of the eight new specially designed pieces of furniture that will be on Lilla Fiskaregatan during Lund City Strong Streets 1–7 September.
Nils and Axel have together designed and built the bright yellow 3×3 meter piece of furniture “Between Matters” and describe their design themselves:

Slow down for a while! Mellan Ärenden introduces seating on Lilla Fiskaregatan with two different characters: open and sunny, intimate and cozy. A place for breaks, conversations or just to rest your legs. Choose your side, sit down and take part in life on the street – between errands.

Lund Citysamverkan has arranged the furnishing of Lilla Fiskaregatan, with the aim of strengthening city life and getting cyclists to slow down. We have received support from Lund Municipality and Fastighetsfreningen Lund City to be able to sponsor materials.

The paving stones rise

Lund is clad in cobblestones. Cyclists swear by the unevenness. Guests praise the charm. Whatever one may think, the cobblestones are a central part of Lund's cityscape. The cobblestones are iconic. They are mined from the country's bedrock. They have been walked on for generations. They have been broken up and thrown away in discontent. The installation raises the cobblestones to draw attention to this everyday element and put them in focus.
2.

The coral along the river

The coral grows like a stay organism, inspired by the movements of the sea and the historical roots of the street. Its arms form seating areas and niches, a sculptural whole that invites from all sides. Like a coral in the stream, it creates sheltered places to rest, where stillness, community and movement meet.

The Nilsson Brothers' Ålahue

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be swallowed by an eel, or have you run out of swear words to shout at the fast cyclists? We are two brothers who want to give the people of Lunda a nice place to sit along the beautiful street, and at the same time remind everyone of one of the most beautiful and classic Skåne curse words.

WINNER - Between Cases

The residents of Lunda have voted for their favorite! Slow down for a while! Mellan Ärenden introduces seating on Lilla Fiskaregatan with two different characters: open and sunny, intimate and cozy. A place for breaks, conversations or just to rest your legs. Choose your side, sit down and take part in life on the street - between errands.

Eddy current

Strömvirvel is an interactive sculpture that contributes with play, art and seating. It creates a social pod where the different activities of the street can work in synergy. Inspired by kapal poles, the furniture is playful but still stable. You are welcome to climb, sit and socialize! Strömvirvel is the center of gravity of the flow. Sometimes you land in the middle, sometimes you take a turn and then float on.
6.

Raw Frame

Råram is a portable piece of furniture inspired by fence technology. Instead of screws, the structure is held together by straps, making it easy to assemble and move. Four platforms create a natural upward movement and invite passersby to take a break from the city's pulse and the pace of shopping. A breather in the middle of the movement.
7.

Sewing Architecture

Sewing Architecture is a temporary installation designed for slowing down and reflection. Built entirely from reused textiles and sand, two widely available and low-cost materials. The project transforms fast fashion waste into a structural and spatial element. By stacking textile sandbags, the installation creates a walkable space that invites interaction, reflection, and rest. The installation invites the public to reflect on consumer culture, temporality, and the complexity of material cycles.
8.

The Memory Loop

This bench, designed by Adrian and myself, functions as more than a place to rest from busy streets and concrete. Our goal is reconnecting people with nature—a return to simpler, greener times. We hope passersby and users benefit from this natural respite, while simultaneously slowing traffic and making our street more beautiful and secure.
