Buildings in the city center

Small and large-scale measures are continuously underway in the city center.

Sometimes it is a property that is being renovated or a small pipe that needs to be replaced, and sometimes it is a major reconstruction of the urban environment. Right now, construction is underway around North-south cycle route  and Bangatan and Canute the Great Square.

The parking lot under the City Library is temporarily suspended.

Vacant storefronts

WE FILL VACANCY SHOP WINDOWS WITH HISTORY, CULTURE, KNOWLEDGE AND LUND'S LOCAL GOODS

It is normal that there are regularly a number of vacant premises in a city centre, as there is a natural turnover of businesses. However, the experience can be that the urban environment is negatively affected by empty shop windows. We at Citysamverkan work to quickly create temporary exhibitions in close dialogue with property owners, such as about the history of Lund, with art and culture, with knowledge through our collaboration with Lund University, and with goods from Lund's many and unique shops.

String collaboration

COLLABORATION WITH PROPERTY OWNERS AND BUSINESSES TO STRENGTHEN STREETS IN THE CITY CENTER

Lund Citysamverkan works together with Lund Municipality with what we call street collaboration, where we work closely with property owners and in dialogue with those who run shops, restaurants or other businesses along a street. The goal is to jointly strengthen the urban environment along a street by, for example, carefully taking care of the architecture, by developing nice places for people to be, creating attractive lighting and decoration, and through ground floor activities and signage.

Right now we are working on the so-called Winstrup Street from Lund Central Station, via Knut Den Stores Torg, Juridicum, Lundagård and to Kulturen. This street is a central east-west connection through Lund's city center and it basically consists of beautiful rooms, buildings and places. With street collaboration, the street can be refined and become even more attractive and enticing for visitors and Lund residents.

Purple Flag certification

STRENGTHENING THE EVENING ECONOMY AND THE PERCEIVED SAFETY IN THE CITY CENTER

Lund Citysamverkan has been strengthened in 2025 with a project manager who is carrying out a Purple Flag certification, with extra funding from the municipality. Purple flag is a method that has been developed by Svenska Stadskärnor following models in England, among others. The work involves mapping evening and nightlife within an area, and developing an action plan for how the city's actors and administrations can collaborate to strengthen the perceived safety in the city, as well as strengthen the actors who run activities in the evening.

Lund City Strong Streets

EVENTS AND COLLABORATION TO ENHANCE LUND'S ATTRACTIVE SHOPPING STREETS

Lund's city center is built on the medieval street network and its streets are attractive avenues for trade, entertainment and culture. Each year we focus on one or two streets, and for a week we offer events for the public and coordinate dialogue with property owners and business owners. The goal is to clarify the character and qualities of the streets, to formulate visions for how they will function in the future, and to create action plans for quick, small, and also long-term and larger changes.

From September 1–7, 2025, we will be implementing Lund City Strong Streets on Lilla Fiskaregatan and Klostergatan.
