WHAT STORIES LIVE IN THE FOREST?
Nature is teeming with stories and if you listen really carefully, maybe you'll find one that you can bring back to us at Naturum?
Maybe a crooked little stick whispers a tale about the tree it once came loose from, maybe a leaf sings about a storm, a soft moss has a secret that wants to come out, or maybe there's a sneaky pine cone that knows everything about what everyone in the Forest does when no one is looking?
ABOUT THE PROJECT – CHILDREN'S STORIES ABOUT NATURE DURING THE ANTHROPOCEAN
"Children's Stories about Nature in the Anthropocene" is a project that takes its starting point from a highly common and very current concern - children's rights in relation to the environment and climate. The aim is to collect, manage and present children's and young people's reflections/stories that describe their relationship to and experience of nature today.
The project is initiated by Hedlandet residens and, together with the Nature School in Lund and Skrylles Naturum, invites children to a workshop to share their stories about what nature is and can be. The children's pictures will be displayed in an organically growing exhibition at Naturum during the Easter break in 2025 and their stories will be intertwined in a sound and/or text work. The workshop is led by poet Ida Börjel, who is the artistic director, together with educators from Lund's Nature School and Naturum's nature guides. The project is funded by Region Skåne.
FOR WHOM: CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE BETWEEN 5 – 12 YEARS
DATE: APRIL 15 – 16, 2025
TIME: Between 10 – 12 and 13 – 15
PLACE: NATURUM, SCRYLLE
INFORMATION FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS:
The workshop is planned to give children and young people time and space to talk about their relationship to nature and the more or less stay organisms that live there. We therefore do not want any other adults in the room than the educators and artists who lead the workshop. Parents/relatives are served coffee and tea while the children participate in the workshop to share their stories about what nature is and can be.
