Under the paving stones is a group exhibition that, in various artistic formats – sculpture and installation, photography and film – examines how built environments, institutional structures and historical forces shape our lives, especially in times of crisis, scarcity or oppression.
The exhibition brings together artists from different geographical contexts and generations. It examines public space from multiple political perspectives, not least focusing on the more or less obvious infrastructures that support (and regulate) our collective experiences.
The participating artists are: Anders Hergum (Norway, b. 1983), Valerie Jouve (France, b. 1964), Yuko Mohri (Japan, born 1980), Kasra Seyed Alikhani (Iran/Sweden, b. 1987), Anne Tallentire (Northern Ireland/England, b. 1949) and Carla Zaccagnini (Brazil/Sweden, b. 1973). Also on display are works by Lygia Clark (Brazil, 1920–88).
Exhibition curator: Karin Bähler Lavér
