The soft logic — textile action, politics and pedagogy
Damien Ajavon (Paris/Oslo), Hera Büyüktaşcıyan (Istanbul), Céline Condorelli (London), Luca Lee Frei (Stockholm), Kamruzzaman Shadhin/Gidree Bawlee (Balia/Thakurgaon) and Bella Rune (Stockholm)
In the exhibition The soft logic allows visitors to explore how textiles, threads and patterns have influenced our culture, our identities and our way of life. The exhibition shows how modern, abstract forms in Western art have their roots in older, traditional patterns. It also highlights how ceremonial textiles and inherited crafts have inspired community, both in collective and queer contexts.
The exhibition is curated by Cecilia Widenheim and Bella Rune and is based on Bella Rune's long-term artistic research. For her, thread is not just a material, but a way to connect memories, forgotten knowledge and human experiences.
The soft logic provides an in-depth picture of the role of textiles throughout history and how they have left their mark on different times and cultures. The exhibition was first shown at Tensta konsthall and is now on display at Lunds konsthall in a new version, adapted to the building's architecture.
