What image do we present of ourselves? And how do we interpret portraits of others?
During the spring semester, 38 fourth-grade classes in Lund Municipality participated in a viewing and workshop at Skissernas Museum. In the Creative Workshop, the students worked with sketches and printing techniques to create self-portraits – a kind of analog selfie. In the portraits, they had the opportunity to add words or symbols that describe who they are or what they like.
During the visit, the students were inspired by artwork from the museum's collection, where people are depicted in different ways in public art. They discussed what facial expressions, poses, clothing and objects can symbolize. They also practiced image analysis and talked about concepts such as identity, norms and messages.
Together we have created a portrait collection in which a large number of students in grade 4 in Lund Municipality are represented. It will be on display at Skissernas Museum during the summer holidays.
The school visits and exhibition are part of the Culture Guarantee and are carried out in collaboration with the Municipality of Lund.

The exhibition is on display June 14–August 16, 2026 at the Skissernas Museum in Birgit Rausing's hall.
