Sweden's most beautiful building has been called the University Library in Lund from 1907. Now the inside has been rebuilt to better meet today's needs of students, researchers, employees and the public. Welcome to an open inauguration on August 30th!

Presentation of the new exhibition Food in need and want
The exhibition shows how food has been both a scarce and abundant commodity throughout history, the subject of technological advances, health advice and much more. The material includes, for example, a two-thousand-year-old Egyptian papyrus describing a theft of wheat bread and ration cards from the First World War.

Are you curious about what the University Library has in its rich collections related to book history, maps, personal archives or sustainability research? Come along on a journey of discovery! You'll also get to see the newly renovated premises.

Presentation of the Ravensbrück Archives
The Ravensbrück Archive, now designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a unique collection of source material from survivors of Ravensbrück and other Nazi concentration camps. The presentation of the archive will also introduce the documentary film LAKOCINSKI'S 9: Documenting the Unspeakable. The depicts the survivors' stories and the work that took place in Lund to reveal the truth to the outside world. You can watch the film inside the exhibition hall.

Directed by: Magnus Gertten, Caroline Troedsson and Sebastian Claesson, 2023. Length: 35 minutes.

Lecture: The University Library as a Culinary Treasury
Take part in a lecture by a food culture researcher who botanizes through menus, restriction forms, cookbooks and various brochures and pamphlets from the University Library's rich collections. Snapshots from Sweden's forgotten and often repressed culinary history emerge.
