Vanna Nothing

I think I was somewhere between Phoenix and Las Vegas when I texted Johan if he wanted to play bass and that he should talk to Andreas about him wanting to play drums on an idea I had. This was the fall of 2010. We started scratching and testing stuff pretty much right after I got home from the US. Very soon it became clear that we needed someone on vocals. Through YouTube and mutual acquaintances, Karolina came into the picture. Then we became Vanna Nothing. There it fell into place. Me and Karolina wrote Allvar on the floor in her first because we had to have one more song because we only had 4 songs. I had accepted a gig that our friends Dempe and Anna put on at their Club Punx Only. With Red Dons who were a great source of inspiration for Vånna Inget dån. We put together a set in about 15-20 minutes. I think it was during those minutes that we all understood that this was going to be something that changed our lives. I know I did anyway. Dempe and Anna suggested already that evening that we should make an LP and about 2 weeks after that gig we had recorded the album Allvar. Every idea you had became a song as it can be like that in the beginning when everything is new, fun and inspiring.

We recorded the record in my studio and mixed it with Emil at Studio Möllan. Quite quickly, Peter at P.Trash got involved and Heptown Records in Lund took care of the CD release. Johan had gotten to know Tom Van Laak who booked gigs in Europe and there was the basis for the first stage of Vånna Inget. All this took place during the first half of the year. Then we did our first tour in Germany and lots of other gigs everywhere. Inspired to move around and forward as much as we could. During our first tour I realized that we needed more songs so pretty much right after we got home we wrote and recorded the EP "Jag ska fly untill sjag findt home". In 2012 it was released and on it there was a development with a little addition in the songs so we need another musician. Then Joel comes into the picture, who actually plays all instruments other than the harpsichord, but I thought Joel could probably play the harpsichord, which he turned out to be able to do as well. During 2012 we started playing even more and touring both far away and here at home. Niklas starts playing bass with us and the work on "Ingen Botten" begins where we got to work together with Jari Haapalainen as producer. The journey continues and after this basic period it is as if time flies and what was new now becomes a part of our lives. Not something we do but something we are. During the years 2013-2019, we grow up and form families that become more important. Christine starts as a replacement for Niklas when his daughter is born. Christine replaces Niklas after "Utopi" is released in 2019 by Gaphals. Then comes the Pandemic and now we are here. The initial years 2011-2013 feel both very recent but also an extremely long time ago. As if a whole life has happened in these 12 years. This is what we have done and who we have been. Now a new chapter begins for us where Vånna Inget will be an episode in our lives that we are happy to have been able to share with all of you who showed up year after year. And everyone who has written to us over the years even though we are so bad at answering. We appreciate you and everything we got to share with you.

Now we have done everything we could and 2023 will be the year when the last gigs take place. We hope to see as many of you as possible and look forward to driving this into the tile as best we can. So all you festival, club, gig etc etc bookers, keep us in mind! We have a vision for these gigs and it would be exciting to launch it together with you. Our last album "True Romance" is on the way.
/ Tommy
