The exhibition “Shell, Shell” is an intuitive processing of different materials that Petra is fascinated by. Hard substances such as soapstone, plaster, mahogany and clay are intertwined with grass, copper wire and silk. Together they repeat the shape of an ear of wheat, a nut or a fragment from a seed.
This is what Petra says about her work:
– The positive form (the core) – and the negative form (the shell) are present in many sculptural processes, and the meeting between these forms makes me vibrate inside. A plaster mold is cracked open, and there rests a core that fits perfectly in its shell. Like a nut in its shell; wrapped in a carefully protective surface. Completely irreplaceable.
Petra Dalström (b. 1987) is a Swedish/Norwegian artist based in Copenhagen. She received her BA in 2015 from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Design on Bornholm.
The exhibition runs until February 12, 2026.
