Lund City

From the Lund collection: Is Lund a music city?

Prog, punk and pop city Lund. Were the 70s and 80s Lund's musical golden age? How did Lund become a hub in Music Sweden? And what does the music life in Lund look like today?

The program series Ur Lundasamlingen takes its point of departure in the City Library's unique local collection. There are books, newspaper clippings, photographs and other material about Lund and its history, such as postcards, address calendars, school catalogs and carnival prints. The collection is usually called Lund's collective memory and is accessible to everyone.

Listen to a panel with writer and journalist Karl G Jönsson, publisher Jonas Ellerström and Mejeriet's operations manager Jakob Svensson, all with roots and background in Lund's music life, who talk about Lund as a music city - then and now.

Karl G Jönsson is a journalist and author of the books Vi kan inte dö: Henrik Venant, Heartwork Records and the punk scene in Malmö/Lund and A kick right in the skull: When punk collided with prog - the story of Fiendens Musik and Lund's rock scene 1977–1981.

Jonas Ellerström is a writer, poet, translator and founded Ellerstöm publishing house. He has played in several punk bands on Lund's music scene, and will publish the book Garbochock: Ritual in October, where he describes how the punk scene in Malmö and Lund grows during some eventful years in the 70s and 80s.

Jakob Svensson is operations manager at the Dairy, and has also worked as the Dairy's band booker for many years.
