Every other Wednesday, artist, songwriter and producer Tingsek has locked himself in the studio together with long-time colleague and co-producer Måns Mernsten and worked into the wee hours on the album “Lights Out Association” – on February 28th we will hear the result!
“Inspiration has been on a long vacation,” we hear Tingsek sing on the album, and Wednesday evenings in the studio have become a haven where he and Måns can shut out the outside world and find their way back to creativity undisturbed. A working method that has proven effective when the claws of everyday life are firmly embedded in the skin and a way to bring back the nights after the toddler years. While the previous album “Home” (2021) revolved around home and love for family, the lyrics on “Lights Out Association” are more inward-looking, with both self-criticism and humor. We hear much of that playfulness on the latest single “Like Folklore”, which was released on November 22. A soulful, swinging and at times funky pop tune topped off with brass arrangements by another of Magnus’s old friends, Peter Zimny, Sweden’s perhaps most sought-after brass musician.
Shortly after “Lights Out Association” is released on February 28th, Tingsek will go on tour with his full band.
