THE THE, fronted by Matt Johnson, has a long and successful career behind it and is known for mixing post-punk, new wave and experimental music. The band formed in the late 1970s and debuted in 1981 with the album Burning Blue Soul.
Throughout their career, the band has had the theme of “soul” central to their music and artistic expression. From their debut album to soul mining (1983) as well Ensoulment (2024), the band has combined music with philosophical reflections on human nature. Over the years, THE THE has also mixed personal and political themes, with albums such as Infected (1986) as well Mind Bomb (1989), in which they predicted global and societal changes. Johnson's music has often been an expression of his own experiences, as in Dusk (1993); an intimate account of the tragedy surrounding his brother's death.
After a break from the stage, the band started touring again in 2018 and released new singles such as We Can't Stop What's Coming (2017) as well $1 ONE VOTE! (2023). In 2024, the band released a wealth of new music along with an album, proving once again that they are a force to be reckoned with.
Now they are preparing for a long-awaited tour, with a mix of new songs and old favorites. On June 9th we will see the band live at Mejeriet!
The concert is arranged by FKP Scorpio and Mejeriet.
