Legendary The Proclaimers release new album and visit Mejeriet in September!
Scottish folk rock band The Proclaimers are back with a new album to be released this spring, followed by a tour that will take them to Sweden and Lund this fall! This is a band that still writes music for its time and that steps on stage with the same nerve, anger and warmth as always. On September 22, the band will take over Mejeriet for an evening that looks forward rather than backward.
The Proclaimers were formed in the early 1980s by twin brothers Charlie and Craig Reid. Their music is timeless and covers a wide range of emotions – songs marked by raw honesty, political fervor, humor and heart. It is music heard at weddings, funerals and everything in between. The super hit “I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)” has become an unimaginable global anthem – a declaration of love about devotion, longing and overcoming distance.
“Sunshine on Leith”, the title track from the album of the same name, has become a signature tune for the Leith district of Edinburgh where the twins lived, and also serves as the march-in song at Hibernian FC home games.
Through their unique mix of pop, folk, new wave and punk, The Proclaimers have created their own niche. The political and the personal, the everyday and the universal, coexist side by side – delivered with a naturalness that immediately grabs the listener.
