The Museum of Sketches June 5 – November 2, 2025
Artist and researcher EvaMarie Lindahl has conducted artistic investigations of the art collections of Skissernas Museum and Lund University. Through the artist's gaze and with methods from critical animal studies, Lindahl explores which individuals are hiding in the collections and how their stories can be told. Over the course of a year, she has examined over 40 paintings, sketches and models. First digitally and then in the museum's magazines and archives.
In her art projects, Lindahl questions our human-centered art history by rewriting and imagining new (art) histories where animals are at the center. She asks questions about power relations between animals and humans and reflects on humans' habit of oppressing other animals. Not least by using them as a resource and material in art production.
The exhibition presents both new and older artworks by Lindahl. Her drawings, video works, textiles and texts correspond in various ways with selected paintings and sketches from the collections.
