Theater performance: Syndernas Lund

Join us on a theatrical tour at Kulturen in Lund. The audience travels to September 7, 1829 and becomes witnesses to an exciting murder investigation. On Adelgatan outside rector Otto Lindfor's house, we meet the academy night watchman who has just found a student lying dead on the stairs. What happened that night? How did the trial go? And what were the consequences of such an atrocity? We get to experience that and much more in the show Lund of Sins.

Teatergruppen Proppen takes us on a journey through 1820s Lund, among students' lives and education in the beautiful Museum of Culture. Our journey begins inside Kulturen, in the school garden behind the White House. We meet students, professors and Lunda residents who take the audience with them between the stages.

Among the student antics and trials, we find the student Blomdahl, who is awakened by knocks on the front door of his room in the student barracks, on the corner of Adelgatan and Sankt Annegatan. Freshly awake and bloody, he is confronted by Johanna Östgren, who occasionally does laundry for the students and recognized the fabric on the body of the murdered student Andreas Emanuel Landén. Blomdahl states that his grim bloody outfit is the result of frequent nosebleeds and claims to be innocent.

Today, almost 200 years later, we still don't really know what happened that fateful evening when Landén lost his life. We get to take part in different narratives when we try to understand Blomdahl's motives.

The trial was conducted here in Lund by the University's board and the verdict was execution. It was up to the university to organize the execution, a task that was not usually the domain of academia. Out of tragic fates came brighter times and today the house where it happened, Locus Peccatorum - House of Sins - is shadowed by the tall proud tower of AF Borgen. A castle built by the Academic Association in order to maintain harmony among the students. Few murders have had such far-reaching consequences as the murder of Andreas Emanuel Landén.

We get to take part in this story in the dramatized walking tour at Kulturen in Lund. The performance is 45–60 minutes long. Gathering at the back of the White House (entrance hall), where there is a sign indicating the gathering place.
