Knit Lund with Erika Åberg

Saturday and Sunday 21-22 October (Saturday 9-16, Sunday 9-15)

Knit Lund, workshop weekend with Erika Åberg

Come to Lund on a lovely autumn weekend and go hunting among colors and patterns together with Erika Åberg! During two full days we draw patterns for hand knitting and color them. It can be multi-colour knitting, structured knitting, lifting stitches or all of them. We alternate simple color lessons and sketching exercises with inspirational walks in beautiful Lund. Finds color combinations and composes patterns, textures and structures. You can choose to build a pattern library or plan a specific project - you can also plan to start a neck collar or a pair of half mittens following one of Erika's descriptions. During the weekend, you will receive working hours, technical tips and briefings with Erika.

Shetland yarn for yarn maps to collect your Lund colors is included in the course fee. You can take yarn for samples and garments with you or buy on site.

Expectations and prior knowledge

The course suits you who want to work independently with drawing, coloring and knitting your own patterns. You are used to knitting according to diagrams, knitting in the round on double pointed needles or circular knitting needles and knitting with two colors.

Take with you

– Watercolor sheet A4 size 3-5 pcs
– Mobile phone with camera

– Watercolor paints/watercolor with brushes
– Colored pencils
– Newspaper clippings/inspiration pictures/pieces of fabric/leftover yarn for mood board
– Glue stick
– Checked paper
– Sketch paper and pencil
– Own toolbox with measuring tape, scissors, a piece of sock, linen or cotton yarn about 40 cm, darning needle
– Double pointed needles 2,5 mm-3,5 mm for half mittens, circular needle 3-4,5 mm for neck collar

– Knitting needles and yarn in light and dark (e.g. white, black or light and dark gray with suitable needles for e.g. 50 g of each wool yarn 350-400 m/hg with knitting needles, double pointed needles or circular needles 3-3,5 mm).
Preferably more colors in the same quality as the dark and light above. The yarns above are for test knitting patterns and for making technique samples, so feel free to bring more sets of knitting needles! The descriptions you receive are adapted for woolen yarns with a stretch as above (350-400m/100g or Shetland wool such as 2 ply Jumperweight from Jamieson & Smith). ATTENTION! The main thing is not the coarseness of the yarn, but that the knitting needles fit the yarn and that the yarns have the same coarseness and can be combined.
– Comfortable shoes for walking and clothes according to the weather!
