City Hall Litt presents
In the mid-900th century, a Danish Viking king had a brilliant idea: He would build a new city. With a royal palace, church and mint, he would strengthen his power over the eastern Danish province of Skåne. The city was named Lund. More than a millennium has passed since the Danish king's idea, and as one of the oldest cities in the Nordic region, Lund has continued to flourish, experiencing great moments and occasional deep distress.
I The history of Lund Journalist and Lund resident Eskil Fagerström tells the city's history from the Middle Ages to the present day. We meet archbishops and church builders, innovative professors and radical students, striking workers and visionary business leaders.
It is a richly illustrated and entertaining depiction of a city that has at times stood at the center of history – and for over a thousand years has been wide open to impressions from the world.
Eskil Fagerström talks about the book in a conversation with Sydsvenskan's editor-in-chief Jonas Kanje. After the conversation, there is an opportunity to buy the book and have it signed. Please come as early as 2:15 PM when Taperian sells beer and snacks in the lounge on the 2nd floor, outside Amfi. The conversation starts at 3:00 PM and lasts just under an hour. Location Amfi, Stadshallen, Stortorget 9.
