On May 23, we celebrate the release of Sommarlund's program! Welcome to pick up Sommarlund's program and hear more about the summer's goodies and the new initiative Park Live, in conversation with main partner Kraftringen. Also take the opportunity to participate in Kraftringen's competition with a chance to win great prizes. The evening continues with the performance Falstaff with Malmö Opera and can be rounded off with a Salsa afterwork at Botulfsplatsen.
This season, Malmö Opera's truck is transformed into the rolling laundry facility Ford's Laundry. Three very fresh, cheerful and efficient ladies work here: the owner Mrs. Ford, her daughter Nanetta, who has a secret relationship with the driver Fenton, and Mrs. Quickly. One fine day, the old, lazy and lice-ridden nobleman Falstaff stumbles into the laundry. Convinced of his masculine charm, he thinks of the sunny Mrs. Ford and the laundry's regular customer Meg, who both have plenty of money. As you can probably imagine, things don't quite go as he had planned.
Giuseppe Verdi borrowed the plot of Falstaff from Shakespeare. It is a fast-paced and funny opera that has been adapted for touring and given a slightly refreshed translation.
