Sommarlund: Frida's pain

Experience a newly written musical theater with tango-inspired music and a modern interpretation of Frida Kahlo's life.

Musical theater about Art and Pain. Both bodily and emotional, something that the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo knew all too much about. At the age of 18, she was in a very bad tram accident which caused lifelong pain. Her second major misfortune, according to herself, was the relationship with colleague Diego Rivera. Nevertheless, she became the greatest female artist in world history.

On stage we have the colorful Swedish singer Malena Laszlo. Known from musical scenes around Sweden and her orchestra Laszlo Royale, husband band at the Nobel Festival. She plays a woman, stuck in quarantine in Mallorca at the beginning of the Corona epidemic, who experiences the different pain of modern people in the form of frustration and meaninglessness. The present is set against Frida's story. The music is inspired by the master of the tango, Piazzolla, and is energetic and incredibly emotional. It comes to life through Kim Strandberg's violin. A limitless musician, known from the duo Stefan and Kim, who for 30 years toured the world with their spectacular shows. The script and music are written by Jan-Erik Sääf, who has written over 20 musicals and numerous other works. Among other things Camera, the musical about Ingrid Bergman. He also treats the piano.
