Director Roy Andersson is one of Sweden's greatest contemporary filmmakers. In the film journalist Mårten Blomkvist's biography Songs from Folkhemmet we get to follow the director through growing up in Gothenburg, via the breakthrough with the film A Love Story and the creation of the ground-breaking commercials, up to the acclaimed feature films. In a conversation with cultural journalist Ann-Marie Rauer, Mårten Blomkvist talks about the director's journey from the working-class quarters of Gothenburg to the international film world, where he has been praised for his unique cinematic universe.
