Conversation: Artist Gunilla Klingberg and curator Maria Lind

The conversation between artist Gunilla Klingberg and curator Maria Lind is based on the works in the exhibition “VRIDAVÄNDAVIRVLAVÄVA”. At the same time, the conversation is a continuation of their thirty-year dialogue about art, people and the world.

Gunilla Klingberg is one of Sweden's most influential artists with several large-scale works on her CV. Among her most recent works are two acclaimed works for urban environments in Stockholm: "Virvelvind" (2021) for the facade of the Sergelpaviljongens at Sergels torg and "Den röda tråden (Katarina)" (2025) for the entrance halls and waiting room in the Nya Slussen bus terminal in Katarinaberget. Both works are rooted in the history and local environment of the place, while the artistic expression brings them into the present. The exhibition "VRIDAVÄNDAVIRVLAVÄVA" at Skissernas Museum presents physical and digital preparatory work for the projects. For the exhibition, Klingberg has also created new works from materials that she has saved from the artistic process.

Maria Lind is a curator, writer and educator from Stockholm. She is currently the director of Kin Museum of Contemporary Art in Kiruna.
