In a time when countless images from distant places pass our eyes every day, often without leaving any particular impression, Mats Reslow manages to create a moment of stillness. Through his photographs, all taken in his close, local surroundings, he reminds us that true beauty does not have to be distant or elusive, it can be found along a hidden path, in a clearing deep in the forest, in the soft morning light over Skåne or in the silent movement of the wind between the trees. His images invite us to lift our gaze from the screen and rediscover the nature around us, not as something obvious, but as a stay and touching world waiting for those who take the time to look.
Stepping into Reslow's exhibition feels like setting off on a quiet walk, one where every step holds a small surprise, and where everyday scenes suddenly take on depth and warmth. He shows how simplicity can be valuable, and how the familiar landscape always holds another layer for the curious. There is a balance in his imagery: not too dramatic, not too contrived, but human, responsive and warm.
Mats Reslow, who lives in the Skåne countryside between Malmö and Lund, spent many years painting before he found his way to the camera almost a decade ago. The transition from brush to camera was not a break, but a natural development; the ability to see details, understand light and seek still moments simply gained a new means of expression. Now, with his fifth solo exhibition at Kliger Gallery, Reslow shows a mature and confident step forward in his creation: a work that combines a genuine love for nature, sensitivity to detail and a desire to share the moments nature bestows on those who are willing to slow down and really see. A painting deeply rooted in classical tradition and the timeless space of myth.
