Ingela Mårtensson and Tomas Magnusson are back in Lund. (Ingela has a past as a member of parliament for the Swedish People's Party and Tomas has been chairman of Svenska Freds at the national level).
On January 31, 2024, Ingela and Tomas came to the City Library and informed a large, astonished and ultimately indignant audience about the DCA agreement. Could it be true that Sweden's Minister of Defense, Pål Jonson, had signed a bilateral defense agreement with the United States the month before? The United States would be allowed to establish 17 military bases and place military equipment in Sweden without transparency or control. Since then, Donald Trump has become president and changed US foreign policy – not least the relationship with Europe. What happens now with the DCA agreement and the American nuclear umbrella? Where is NATO headed?
