Throughout history, meetings have been crucial to how ideas, knowledge and influences have spread between people and countries. In Eye to eye we get to follow hundreds of Swedish meetings with the great names of their time – from Martin Luther and Voltaire to Simone de Beauvoir and Michel Foucault. The book is based on letters, memoirs and reports and depicts both hilarious and significant moments in Swedish cultural and intellectual history.
Gunnar Broberg (1942–2022) was a professor of the history of ideas and scholarship at Lund University and one of Sweden's foremost historians of ideas. The book is now being published posthumously in collaboration with Agneta Helmius.
