Each round of play, knowledgeable coaches together with the audience select which acts will advance to the quarterfinals. WHAT IS POPKORN NORDIC?
Popkorn Nordic is Scania & Zealand's largest live development platform. Popkorn was first arranged at The Tivoli in Helsingborg in 2000. Since then, hundreds of bands and artists have participated in Popkorn. Many of them are today professionals in the music industry and the cultural sphere. In 2019, the Swedish-Danish collaboration started, and Popkorn became Popkorn Nordic.
Bands & artists from Scania play selected venues in Scania at the same time as bands from Zealand meet on the other side of the strait. After a number of preliminary rounds, it all ends with joint semifinals and finals in both Denmark and Sweden.
The aim of Popkorn Nordic is to give artists and bands opportunities for development through live experience, networking and knowledge. Also to create opportunities for good and valuable meetings/experiences through live music in both Scania and Zealand.
Popkorn Nordic is presented by The Tivoli, Studiefrämjandet Skåne-Blekinge, Skånsk Live and Kulturværftet (DK) with the support of Helsingborg's cultural board. Swedish partners are Halmén Musik, Mejeriet i Lund and Babel.
