Can music leave its sounding universe and pass into other arts that reach us in other ways than through hearing? Guitarist, composer and artist Bertrand Chavarria-Aldrete, PhD student at the Academy of Music in Malmö, is researching this, and here he takes us on a journey through our senses. Chavarria-Aldrete talks about her work where sound and musical works are extended and expanded in parallel "plastic" forms - plastic extensions - such as sculpture, movement, painting, books and other media.
We get to see examples of these "extensions" and listen to Chavarria-Aldrete performing the music behind the works. Among other things two new plastic extensions, based on guitar pieces by Lund University's own composition professors Rolf Martinsson and Staffan Storm, will be exhibited for viewing for the first time.
