On Saturday 8/11, photographer Mattias Wellander Löfgren will visit us. He will show his film about Vipeholm and have a discussion on the subject.
If you are interested in history, socio-cultural exchange and community, you are more than welcome! We will start with coffee at 16:30 PM, followed by a film screening with discussion.
Short description of the film:
“The documentary film depicts Vipeholm Hospital, where people with functional disabilities were cared for from the early 1900s to the 1990s. During a large part of the 1900s, the patient group was described as “mentally impaired” but a new approach was established from the 1960s–70s. Vipeholm became (in)famous for dental care experiments with the inmates as guinea pigs in 1945–55. Archive material is interspersed with interviews with relatives and former staff.
