Agneta Pleijel is one of Sweden's leading fiction writers. Since her debut in 1970, she has worked both as a novelist, poet and playwright. Pleijel's books have been translated into a number of languages and she has received several major literary awards.
Last year came Snails and snow, the third part in Agneta Pleijel's autobiographical novels – a journey through the deceptive memory and the will to write. IN The Divination - A Girl's Memoir was about growing up in Stockholm and Lund. part two, The scent of a man, described the young woman who was a student in Gothenburg. Part three depicts her adult life and aging. She explores the adult woman's various relationships during her life. The book has been received by a jubilant body of critics who have called it brave, merciless and incredibly skillfully told.
