Nordic Bridges with Bellevue String Quartet

A bridge between two musical worlds!

About the program

Classical art music and folk music have coexisted in Scandinavia since the 1600th century. Sometimes folk music has crept into classical works, and at the same time, folk musicians have taken melodies from art music and transformed them into folk songs. “Nordic Bridges” explores the connection between art and folk music, as a bridge between two musical worlds. The bridges also extend across the Nordic countries and across different time periods, from Baroque to the present.

About Bellevue String Quartet

As Scandinavia's only string quartet playing period instruments, Bellevue String Quartet engages its audience through unique, conceptual programs. Pearls from the string quartet repertoire are combined with newly composed works, music from the 1600th century and arrangements of Nordic folk music - creating a musical experience rarely offered at a traditional string quartet concert.

To reach a new and diverse audience, the quartet creates an intimate concert environment, both on the classic concert stage and in smaller, non-traditional venues. Based in Malmö, the quartet performs regularly on various stages in the Öresund region. Their first album with the “For Four” program is planned for release in 2026.
