The Nordenstedt seminar: Creativity at Sankt Lars

Welcome to lectures with free entry from 17.45 pm! The Nordenstedtska seminariet is a lecture series financed by the Nordenstedtska Stiftelsen.

A lecture on creativity in patients at Sankt Lars Hospital. Maria Rudbeck, who was a patient for 53 years, expressed herself through embroidery and drawings and she documented her inventions in four "invention books". Rudolf Persson transformed a German pattern book into fantasies about the "Montenegrin-Ottoman war" in the same way as the unique style of the American artist Henry Darger. Sone Sonesson's notebook, created during his time at Sankt Lars, reflects a dualistic struggle, while Britta Sjögren's intense expression involves the books she read and appropriated.

Thomas Millroth is a writer, art curator, critic and art historian. He has written around forty works, most of which are about art, and is a recurring contributor to Sydsvenskan. In addition to this, he has, among other things, been active as a teacher of art and music history and director of Ystad's art museum 1995–2008.

In the Auditorium. No pre-booking. Free entry to the talk from 17.45pm.
