Nomad

A musical story about different ways of stay.

Nomad is a musical and poetic piece of stage art that curiously and generously interacts with its audience through existential questions. The performance is based on interviews that the playwright Lucia Cajchanova has done with the artists Sofia Jannoks and Salamanca Taikon Gonzalez. It will be a captivating meeting between Sofia's Sami and Salamanca's Roma roots. Their personal experiences and the prejudices they both encounter in everyday life are intertwined with reflections on how we humans live and live.

Join Sofia and Salamanca on a unique and musical journey with a Sami and Roma perspective where permanent residence has never been the norm. Come along to Hisingen and to Sapmi, to Norway, Italy, Spain, France, yes all the way to the coast of Palestine in the time of Jesus. Travel through towns and villages, to campsites and mountains and now to a playground near you. On stage they are joined by the musician Robert Svärd, a well-known flamenco guitarist with a worldwide reputation.

Seen from the outside, nomadic life has both shimmered with alluring freedom and been shadowed by historical atrocities such as exclusion and displacement. Here, the different experiences of two noted artists from two national minorities marked by the conditions of nomadic life are shared. A strong musical heritage, unforgettable grandmothers, faithful dogs and paths that continue forward they also have in common. Their stories intertwine and create in interaction with music, song and dance a pulse-raising and touching performance.
