Nils Månsson Mandelgren in a new light

Welcome to lectures with free entry from 17.45 pm! The Nordenstedtska seminariet is a lecture series financed by the Nordenstedtska Stiftelsen.

Nils Månsson Mandelgren is known for his documentation of older cultural expressions, but his great struggles were about shaping the cultural institutions of today and the future. His role in the museum sector, cultural heritage preservation and arts and crafts education in Sweden has recently been examined in a book with contributions from twelve researchers. In it, we get to know Mandelgren's ideas and proposals for improvements in human stay conditions, presented with burning conviction, high ambitions and unquenchable energy.

Solfrid Söderlind is professor emeritus at the Department of Cultural Sciences, Lund University. Former superintendent of the National Museum and, together with ethnologist Karin Gustavsson, editor of the book about Mandelgren.

In the Auditorium. No pre-booking. Free entry to the talk from 17.45pm.
