In 2025, Kjell Höglund will turn 80. On this occasion, Ellen Sundberg and Ellinor Brolin, along with the band, are embarking on a major tour. As if more reason were needed to highlight Höglund's unique artistry... But an opportunity is always an opportunity! With songs like "Genesarets sjö", "Jag hör hur dom ligger med vernander" and "Man vänjer sig", Kjell Höglund has etched himself firmly in the minds of many Swedes. His poetic lyrics and homemade mix of pop, rock, schlager and ballads have created a corner of his own within Swedish popular music. Songs that comfort, entertain and give strength. The devoted listeners range from the very young to people well into old age.
The show shares its name with SVT's documentary, "When the train leaves the platform - Ellen Sundberg & Ellinor Brolin in Kjell Höglund's footsteps". The film depicts how the two young musicians Ellen Sundberg and Ellinor Brolin independently recorded an album with their versions of Kjell Höglund's music at the same time. In addition to Ellen and Ellinor's respective interpretations, a common thread in the program is Höglund's occult manifesto, Magnus Opus, read by actor Sven J Björklund, known from the comedy group Klungan.
The interpretations on the album "Du sålde min biljett" were characterized by Ellen Sundberg's unique talent for performance, which is also evident in her compositions of Bodil Malmsten. It was an immediate success and the sold-out vinyl edition is today a highly sought-after collector's item that today goes for thousands of kronor.
Ellinor Brolin, for her part, had the honor of recording completely new songs to lyrics that Höglund never had the opportunity to complete. The album “The Third Millennium” contains compositions by Staffan Hellstrand, Kajsa Grytt, Peter LeMarc and Johan Johansson. A treasure for all who love Kjell Höglund’s art and who never thought they would hear more.
Kjell Höglund has left the stage for good. "I'm done" as he expressed it in an SR Documentary a few years ago. Something that has naturally increased his legendary status even more.
