Pianist and composer Stefan Nilsson passed away from ALS in May 2023. His wife, pianist Lotta Hasselquist Nilsson, plays Stefan's music and talks about the music, how Stefan himself was thinking when he wrote it, and about moments from a wonderful life of great love and happiness. She also talks about the time of illness with ALS, Stefan's brave decision and of course about the unimaginable loss, but also about the great great gratitude!
Also participating are bassist Johan Granström and the Lund Academic Choir!
Lotta Hasselquist Nilsson is a music director and concert pianist who also plays many other instruments. She has worked as a conductor at the Royal Dramatic Theatre and the City Theatre, accompanied choirs and soloists, played improvisational music, chamber music, silent film music, worked with opera and ballet and has also written a great deal of choral music.
Johan Granström is the bassist and bandleader who has played with famous artists such as Kalle Moraeus, Tommy Körberg, Janne Schaffer, etc. About Stefan Nilsson's music he says... Stefan Nilsson's music has always touched me deeply and I am grateful that I got to make music with him.
The Lund Academic Choir, with its 60 singers, is Odeum's large choir and is led by director cantorum Cecilia Martin-Löf. The choir was formed in 1927 as a women's choir, but was later transformed into a mixed choir in order to expand its repertoire. Since 2007, the choir has been part of Odeum. The singers in the choir are mostly students and doctoral students at the university.
