Faculty of Medicine Honorary Doctorate Lecture 2026

Faculty of Medicine's Honorary Doctorate Lecture 2026:
The importance of human judgment – from everyday clinical practice to the world's health crises

In this year's Honorary Doctorate Lecture, two voices meet who, in different ways, shed light on crucial issues for medicine and health today.

  • Philosopher Jonna Bornemark draws on research on practical knowledge, corporeality and the importance of human judgment, and problematizes an excessive belief in measurability and standardization in healthcare and education.
  • Journalist and nurse Sara Heyman contributes experiences from global health work and reports on issues such as hunger and antibiotic resistance, where complex connections are made understandable through people's stories. Together, they open up a broader discussion about knowledge, responsibility and judgment in the future of healthcare – locally and globally.

Jonna Bornemark and Sara Heyman will each give a short lecture, followed by a joint discussion.
Responsible: Andreas Vilhelmsson and Martin Garwicz.

After the lecture, non-alcoholic bubbly and snacks will be served.

The event requires pre-registration.
