Maxida Märak to the Dairy on October 4
Maxida Märak is one of Sweden's most unique and versatile artists – and now she's embarking on a whole new chapter in her musical journey. She's releasing her latest album, Borrowed, a song album where she interprets Swedish ballads with a personal and modern touch. With deep roots in the song tradition – a musical form that has accompanied her since childhood – Maxida breathes new life into beloved classics and creates a bridge between generations. In Borrowed The yoik is an obvious part, and the traditional meets the contemporary in a musical whole that bears her clear imprint.
First up was the single Will new voices sing?, an interpretation of Mikael Wiehe's classic fight song, which was released in April. Borrowed is produced together with Emanuel Norrby and once again shows Maxida's willingness to push boundaries, break norms and create music that both touches and challenges.
Maxida Märak has made an indelible mark on the Swedish cultural scene over the past decade. She made a name for herself with her unique fusion of hip hop and yoik, where Sápmi has always been the norm. She writes, produces and performs her own music – with a sound that is as raw as it is honest, always with the message in focus.
She has toured in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Canada, the USA and Greenland, released three albums and a large number of singles and EPs. She has performed on major stages such as the Globen, guested So much better, Jill's porch, Sing-along at Skansen and Melodifestivalen, summer talk in P1, and played a leading role in SVT's Midnight sun where she also wrote and performed the vignette. In 2024 she released her third album Anecdote and wrote and produced the music for SVT's Christmas calendar Snow dreams.
