Lund's decency association was one of several associations that ran social activities in Lund around the turn of the 18th/1900th century. Other examples are the Fruntimmersföreningen, the Voluntary Association for the Care of the Poor, Lund's Borgerskapsstiftelse and Stiftelsen Hemmet, all of which in different ways focused on helping the less fortunate.
The decency association was formed in 1883, during a period when decency, sexuality and morality were debated intensively in Sweden and Lund. The archives of the associations are not large, but the material gives a clear picture of the prevailing zeitgeist. The archivists Krister Hansson and Mats Johansson have gone through the archives and make a selection of the material in preference.
