As part of Banned Books Week, we invite you to a conversation between philosopher, academy member and writer Åsa Wikforss and Ida Ölmedal, culture editor at Svenska Dagbladet. Åsa Wikforss is professor of theoretical philosophy at Stockholm University. In 2018 she was elected as a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and in 2019 she succeeded Sara Danius on seat 7 in the Swedish Academy. She has researched and written about knowledge resistance, misinformation and what it does to democracy. Ida Ölmedal is a journalist and head of culture at Svenska Dagbladet. In September, her book Where books are burned: stories about forbidden words and purged literature will be released, which is about when throughout history the written word has sparked debate.
The conversation about free speech and the forces that control it is part of the series Lund talks. Free entry, no pre-registration required.
