LUKOM – Lund University's cultural and museum operations – stands for the Botanical Garden, the History Museum, the Sketch Museum and the Odeum Music Centre. Now all four businesses invite you to a common theme week that revolves around SPIRITUALITY.
LUKOM's theme week is inaugurated in Odeums Chapel hall with a piano evening where the keyboard becomes a stage for battles between heaven and hell. Pianist Markus Kvint and musicologist Tobias Lund offer insights into one of the Nordic countries' most original and moving musicians: Rued Langgaard (1893–1952).
The next day, relay shows begin historiska museum (meeting point in the foyer) where we are transported to the Iron Age and the sacrificial culture as a central characteristic of people's religious everyday life. What did the practice of sacrificial culture look like in the pre-Christian Nordic faith? What objects were used in the rituals? And how was the afterlife viewed?
Botanical gardenn highlights nature as a way to get in touch with the "spiritual" and asks how people today use nature as a spiritual space.
On The Museum of Sketches you will hear how spirituality can be connected to a public artwork. With the artwork "Gravitational ripples" - a memorial to the event and those who fell victim to the tidal wave disaster in Southeast Asia in 2004, the artist Lea Porsager (PhD from Malmö Academy of Arts, 2021) connects science, nature and spirituality. The memorial reminds us of nature's and people's ability to heal - even after the most terrible events.
All relay displays begin with a short musical element (transverse flute). Please note that we will be walking between the sites. Warm welcome!
