Longing for the country Different – about summer cottage life

Welcome to the lecture with free admission from 17.45:XNUMX PM! The Nordenstedt seminar is a lecture series funded by Nordenstedt Foundation.

This evening's talk explores the cultural and social significance of summer cottage life in Sweden. During the latter part of the 1900th century, summer cottage ownership has become a widespread experience, with the little red cottage emerging as a symbol of both traditions, emotions and conflicts that arise when city life meets the countryside.

Jonas Frykman and Orvar Löfgren are professors emeriti at Lund University's Department of Ethnology. They received their doctorates in 1977 and 1978 respectively and have had a significant impact on research into Swedish stay conditions and cultural traditions. Together they also contributed an article on summer cottage life to Kulturens årsbok 2025.
