was created in 2012 by Bubu Eklund who wanted to introduce the Indian national poet Rabindranath Tagore (1861-1941) to a Swedish audience. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913 as the first non-European, and wrote approximately 2400 songs, 2 of which are national anthems in India and Bangladesh. The choir has also carried out successful tours in these countries which attracted great attention, a bunch of Swedes singing in Bengali! Tagore was also a pacifist who tried to build cultural bridges between East and West, which makes his songs highly relevant today.
