Linnéa Carlsson who will show and teach part of his process for working with clay modeling of a male model.
The art workshop series Human World Training Center arranged by Gallery Extra in association with Krognoshuset with project support from Lunds kommun. For more information about Krognoshuset's operations see: www.krognoshuset.se
We will work with clay modeling of a male model. You don't need any prior knowledge. Botulfsplatsen is transformed this Sunday into a paradise for your subjective gaze. Come and practice seeing the beauty of the body's lines and gradually seeing them emerge in the moist mud. Your tour guide Johan Lundin will help you set up, there will be soft drinks, a live model and a live sculptor of life who will support you in seeing the beauty, finding the center of gravity and the proportions. You will find your inner genius.
About Linnéa Carlsson
The tension between recognition and alienation are contrasts that often appear in Linnea Carlsson's work.
Carlsson's observations of how women's and men's bodies have been depicted in sculpture have led to the sculpture series Male Nude, a series of traditional bronze figures of naked, passive and anonymous men. The passive position that the models take signals a being without direct purpose and direction. The men don't seem to be going anywhere but rest, and wait, with their eyes slanting downwards. This is how women are usually portrayed in sculptures we see around town.
What was it like to be a male modernist; to experience oneself as a genius and sovereign subject, to allow oneself to be guided by one's beauty experiences, and to allow utility and pleasure to be united in an erotic mess in the daily pursuit when a beautiful model is depicted? Linnéa has thought about that, and tried to adopt the "male modernist's" gaze, albeit with reversed roles.
Linnéa Carlsson, born in 1975 in Kalmar and graduated from the Academy of Arts in Malmö in 2008. She works with sculpture, drawing and painting and, in addition to the sculpture series Male Nude, has made the sculpture in memory of Elma Danielsson that stands in Rörsjöparken in Malmö. Recently, she has returned to painting and is currently having an exhibition in the Ljungberg Museum in Ljungby, open until June 2.
Art workshops at Botulfsplatsen with Human World Training Center
The events are suitable for both adults and children, people with great or little experience in creative processes.
The performance project Human World is an inverted zoo, that means it is a place where fictional animals are watched and fascinated by humans. The project has emerged from a need to be able to work with and present art and performance in environments and situations that are not constructed based on a gallery format. The project is based on showing the social and ongoing process of art. We want to create a playful, theatrical or festive atmosphere. The aim is to create a dynamic that opens up for the participants to feel creative, think and do things in new ways and together with people they have not met before.
Gallery Extra and Krognoshuset organize outdoor art workshops for all ages. By meeting in creative processes, we can be inspired by each other. The goal is for people who are new to each other to meet. The event is open to all, and we specifically invite interest groups looking for social activities. We envision it to be, for example, a long table with people who participate and create in clay together under the guidance of artists and hosts from Gallery Extra. We invite artists who will show or teach part of their process. The artists choose what and how they will arrange to activate the participants in some form of creation. The workshop is performed and presented in a theatrical travel agency-and-zoo format. Human World becomes a kind of role-playing game that the audience participates in, where everyone pretends that we are attractions for the fictional animals in an inverted zoo. In order to increase the opportunities to develop, we try to make the arrangements inviting for both adults and children, people with great or little experience in creative processes.
