City Council

The City Council is the highest decision-making body of the municipality and consists of 65 members and 35 substitutes, where all the municipality's political parties are represented. The members are elected by the municipality's residents every four years.

The municipal council decides on matters of fundamental importance, such as the municipality's direction, operations and finances. The council decides, for example, on the budget, tax rate, fees for municipal services and the organization and forms of operation of the municipal administration.

The chairman of the city council this term is Mats Helmfrid (M).
