About the program:
Why do you hear great melodies like Count Basie's "Flight Of The Foo Birds", Tommy Dorsey's "I'm Getting Sentimental Over You" and Glenn Miller's "Moonlight Serenade" only with a big band?
With this quartet, trumpeter Mårten Lundgren presents well-known melodies from the big band repertoire in a different format that gives the melodies new life.
Artist Biographies:
Mårten Lundgren, trumpet and vocals, is an established jazz star on both sides of the Öresund. He can, for example, be heard on a record with Monica Zetterlund and Claes Janson. Mårten is originally from Södertälje and started playing the trumpet at the age of nine. He trained at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm and moved to Malmö in 2001. On his musical journey, Mårten has toured with Arne Domnérus and played in many different constellations, including: "Stora Stygga", "Gugge Gedrenius Big Blues Band", " The Ronnie Gardner Septet", "Bohuslän Big Band", "Danska radions Storband", "Tivoli Big Band" and "Niels Jørgen Steen's A-team". He has released four records under his own name with the fifth on the way.
Zier Romme Larsen, piano belongs to the younger generation of musicians who quickly established themselves on the Danish jazz scene.
Ida Hvid, bass, is one of Denmark's most employed bassists.
Cornelia Nilsson, is Sweden's latest example of a brilliant music export. She has, among other things, played with the American pianist Kenny Barron.
