PIANO RIVALS – A film about Chopin and Liszt
In Swedish.
Length: 60 min.
Following the award-winning film about Beethoven's music, now comes Per Tengstrand's second music film - a work that took two years and consisted of trips to Hungary, Poland, Austria and France.
It is about the two foremost virtuosos and piano composers of the 1800th century, Frédéric Chopin and Franz Liszt, both from countries in Central Europe that suffered badly in the power struggle between East and West, and thereby became great cultural symbols for their nations. However, that is where the similarities end, they were pianists, musicians and people as different as can be. Experience their lives and countries with the help of a narrator who is a world-leading expert, in a film with history, music and strong emotions.
