The critically acclaimed group Vingborg/Valencia plays dreamy and playful jazz. The band, which consists of Hannah Vingborg (keyboards, synth), Christian Valencia (guitar), Emil Lund (bass) and Lasse Wagner (drums), stands out with its sensitive melodies, creative grooves and expressive presence.
The music has its roots in jazz and folk music but playfully extends far beyond these genres – into rock, pop and ambient. It is a band that both dares and wants, and the result is a jazz that is both dramatic and thoughtful.
The group was nominated for a Danish Music Award in 2024 as New Jazz Name of the Year, and Niels Overgaard (Jazznyt.dk) writes about the debut album:
“Although jazz, and especially Nordic jazz, is the starting point, the quartet has a free attitude towards traditions. They are not trying to revolutionize anything – but still manage to do so, almost unconsciously. In their own quiet way, they bring the Nordic jazz tradition and tone into a new era.”
