Inauguration of a memorial plaque for Frank Heller – the adventure writer

Inauguration of a memorial plaque for Frank Heller – Sweden's foremost adventure writer.
Frank Heller, the pseudonym of Gunnar Serner, was one of Sweden's most internationally prominent adventure writers. His life story is as fascinating as his literary works.

Inauguration of the memorial plaque Saturday, March 29, 14.00:14.30–XNUMX:XNUMX PM
Location: The sign is located at Klostergatan 7, on the ground at the former bank entrance "Kritiska Hörnet".

Opening speech by Mårthen Mirza, cultural director, and Frank Orton, honorary chairman and founder of the Frank Heller Society.

After the opening, you are welcome to join the co-organizer Frank Heller group, which will move on to a nearby venue to discuss Serner/Heller over a coffee or a glass of wine (at your own expense). There will certainly be some anecdote. A warm welcome!

Gunnar Serner 1886–1947
Born in 1886 in Lösen outside Karlskrona and raised in Bosarp near Eslöv, Gunnar Serner became one of the youngest doctors of literature at Lund University in 1910. After a financial scandal, he was forced to leave Sweden in 1912, but soon found his livelihood through writing. His first books were an immediate success, and he went on to publish over 50 works, translated into at least fifteen languages.

In the mid-1940s, Albert Bonnier's publishing house decided to republish a selection of his novels and short stories in the series Frank Heller's best. It was commented that the series “contains the best that good entertainment can offer and provides the reader with plenty of exciting, funny and cultured entertainment”.

The publisher provided the following background drawing for the series: “Three things made Frank Heller not only our foremost but also our most internationally renowned adventure writer: he was a master in the art of inventing a well-crafted plot, he was witty and witty, and his style was always neat and elegant.

He also published travelogues and poetry. His books are permeated with scholarly allusions but also with pacifism and environmentalism.
