Hanna has a dream. A dream of enjoying peace and quiet in a lush allotment garden. Through an inheritance, this opportunity opens up wide. Full of hope and confidence, she begins her journey. But the start is anything but easy and hope quickly turns to doubt. How will this happen?
In the performance “The Garden of Hope”, we follow Hanna’s journey towards realizing her dream. It is a journey through emotions and reflections. In small steps, she walks forward, like a seed that slowly grows into a tree of hope. It is a story about finding the light, even when dark times feel all-encompassing. There is always a possibility to grow, even when it happens slowly.
Through the performance, a sense of togetherness and inner strength grows, where the audience and the choir get a common place to breathe and feel hope for the future. We all have a place in the great garden where we can grow, flourish and find hope again, time and time again.
The Notion is a performing women's choir, based in Lund since 2019. The choir was founded by Sara Söderström, a well-regarded choir director and voice coach, in an effort to contribute something completely new and different to Lund's rich choral life. At her side is Maria Porath who leads the performing stage.
The choir is continuously developing, both musically and scenically, and all members participate in the creation of the performances they put on. The performances encompass much more than just beautiful singing, but the musicality is supported by a common thread in terms of content and a performance that radiates warmth and heart, which touches the audience deeply. The music performed spans a wide repertoire – from classical opera to the very latest pop songs, most of it in specially commissioned arrangements. The fact that the members are developing musically was proven by acquiring a gold medal at the European Choir Games in the fall of 2023.
