The soft logic — textile action, politics and pedagogy
Lund Art Gallery 7 February – 10 May 2026
Participating artists: Damien Ajavon (Paris/Oslo), Hera Büyüktaşcıyan (Istanbul), Céline Condorelli (London), Luca Lee Frei (Stockholm), Kamruzzaman Shadhin/Gidree Bawlee (Balia/Thakurgaon) and Bella Rune (Stockholm)
What would the story of humanity be like if archaeologists could study perishable materials like textiles or wood, materials that have broken down and disappeared over time? Perhaps our history writing would look completely different. Instead of the Iron and Bronze Ages, we would talk about the Thread and Weaving Ages. Perhaps textiles as a primeval technology could be a key to a future global solution.
Exhibition The soft logic allows visitors to see how textiles, threads and patterns have influenced different cultures and forms of society. It shows how abstract forms have their roots in ancient traditional patterns and at the same time are constantly evolving in our time. It also highlights how ceremonial textiles and inherited crafts inspire community in collective and queer contexts.
The soft logic allows us to twist perspectives together with a group of artists who use textiles to assert logics and approaches other than the accepted ones.
The exhibition is curated by Bella Rune and Cecilia Widenheim and is based on Rune's many years of artistic research into textiles as material, language and action. It was first shown at Tensta Konsthall and has now come to Lund Konsthall in a new version, in dialogue with the building's architecture.
